"Light My Fire"

Chapter 1
By The Stranger

The warm, summer breeze gently blew through his soft curls, as he watched the first stars appear, in the night sky. He stood there, on the balcony, reflecting on the day. It was just so quiet and peaceful outside, not a soul or wave in sight.

There is just one thing that will spoil this. He thought, as he pushed hair out of his eyes.

“Micky! Come on! You’re holdin’ us up!” Mike shouted from inside.

And that’s it. “Coming father,” Micky grumbled to himself as he reluctantly walked inside.

“It’s about time! What were you doin’ out there any way? Besides holdin’ practice up?”

“Oh just thinking. Why Mike?”

“Because you should’ve been sittin’ behind those drums, that’s why.”

“Christ!” Davy whispered to Peter. “Mike’s being a real dick tonight!”

“Yeah. I wonder what crawled up his ass this time.”

“I heard that! Are we goin’ to play or what?”

“All right. Keep your shirt on!”

They all picked up their instruments, except for Micky who sat behind his drums respectively. Halfway through the first song, someone knocked on the door, causing them to stop.

“It’s open!” Peter shouted towards the door. The door flew open, revealing a beautiful girl. She was petite and curvy, with long, wavy, brown hair, and sparkling, blue eyes.

“Hi Micky!” She greeted with a cheerful smile.

“Stacey!” Micky jumped up from behind his drums, and rushed over to her, scooping her up in his arms. She wrapped her legs tightly around his waist, and her arms around his neck, as they kissed. Mike, Davy, And Peter stood back and watched.

“Now that’s a greeting!” Davy snickered.

“Why doesn’t that ever happen to me?”

“Because, you’re not hip enough Peter,” Mike answered

Micky and the so-called Stacey continued kissing as they made their way to the couch, completely ignoring the others. He laid her gently onto the cushion, and sprawled out on top of her.

“You do realize that you two aren’t alone, don’t you?” Mike asked, with his arms folded across his chest.

Micky lifted his head and looked up at his roommates. “Of course we do. That makes things more interesting.”

“Why don’t we just leave them alone for a while?”

“Good idea, Peter. But I wonder if Micky’s planning on introducing us to his friend.” Davy answered.

“Who cares who she is? Just as long as she keeps him busy for a while, she’s fine with me.

C’mon let’s go down to the beach for a while.” Mike winked at Davy as he finished, then headed to the door. Davy and Peter were close behind Mike as they left.

Knowing that they were alone, Micky moved further down the couch, and sat up to remove his shirt. He then ran his hand up and under Stacey’s tight top, and began caressing her breasts, as he gently sucked on her neck. This coaxed her into taking off the pesky top. Micky moved slowly down her neck, and made his way to her chest, and began sucking on her nipples. He looked up into her eyes and smiled. Neither of them could believe that it had been so long since they last seen each other, let alone been together.

“I’ve missed you so much, Stace.”

“But we’ve been writing to each other every week.”

“It’s not the same as seeing you in person.” He lifted her head just enough for her to reach his lips. The kiss was warm and lingering.

The cool sand squished between Mike’s toes as he walked towards the shore. He took in a deep breath of sea air, as he watched the moonlight on the water. Further down the shore, Peter was trying to get over his dry spell, by talking to a girl, and failing naively as always. Davy walked up next to Mike and patted his shoulder, as he gazed at the water.

“Sure is a beautiful night.”

“What’s that Davy?”

“I said, sure is a beautiful night.”

“Yeah sure is buddy.” He paused and looked at Peter sitting in the sand. “Poor Peter. Got shot down again.”

“He just keeps trying so hard. When’s he going to learn?”

“I don’t know.”

They gazed into each other’s eyes for a moment before turning away quickly. Mike cleared his throat before he spoke.

“Well uh… I think we should head back inside.”

“Yeah good idea. You go ahead, I’ll get Peter.”

It was a while after the guys, finally, got a chance to practice. Everyone was sitting around and talking. Micky and Stacey were sitting next to each other on the couch; Micky had his arm around her shoulder, holding her close. Davy and Peter were sitting in Indian style on the floor in front of the couch, and Mike had pulled up a chair beside it.

“So Mick…” Mike started slowly. “She’s been here for a couple hours now, and I still don’t know who she is.” He said pointing at Stacey. He had a slight twinge of jealousy in his voice.

Micky blushed a little and smiled. “Well… I guess I should have introduced her.”

“That would’ve helped,” said Davy.

“Um…” Micky looked at Stacey for a second. ”This is Stacey Mitchell.” He paused.

“Stacey these are my friends and roommates, Mike, Davy, and Peter.” He pointed to them as he said their name.

“It’s very nice to meet you Stacey. How do you know Micky?” Asked Peter.

“He’s…”

“She’s my high school sweetheart.” Micky interrupted.

“Yeah. Micky and I were in the same grade together…”

“But she moved away in the middle of junior year. Broke our hearts that she had to leave…”

“So we became kind of pen pals, so we could stay together. We wrote to each other every day at first, but soon it became every week.”

“Isn’t the long distance thing hard? I mean how could you stay faithful?” Davy asked.

“Who said anything about being faith… hey wait a minute! Never mind about that… besides who are you to talk about being faithful, Davy?”

“Er… right.” Davy said as he sheepishly hung his head. The others laughed.

“So Stacey.” Mike said suddenly. “How long are you staying?”

“Well, I’m in town for three weeks, but I have no place to stay.”

“You can stay here…” Micky started. He looked at the guys for approval. “Can she?”

“I don’t see why not,” said Peter.

“Sure she can stay! The more the merrier! Right, Mike?”

“Um, yeah. But we were planning a vacation next week. What’s she goin’ to do then Mick?”

“Well… I didn’t think of that. Wait, it’s not like we’re going to the same place this year.”

“Where are you guys going?” Asked Stacey.

“Well shit…” Mike scratched his head as he spoke. ”Let’s see… I’m going back to Texas for a family reunion… Peter, aren’t you going to New York?”

“Yes, an old friend of mine is having kind of a birthday party. I promised him I’d be there. What about you Davy?”

“Well, I was going to visit my sister and her husband in England. I haven’t seen them in a while. Plus I thought I would check out the old neighborhood.”

Stacey looked at Micky, who was gazing at the floor. “Are you going any where Micky?”

“Huh? Oh no. I was just going to hang around here while they were gone. I’m glad you came, because now I’ll have some one to be with.”

“I’m sure we’ll have a great time.”

“Yeah. So it’s settled then! You three go away and do your thing, and Stacey and I will stay here and do ours.” Micky said.

“Yeah, like fuck.” Davy teased, causing Micky to push him over onto his back.

Everyone sat, laughed, and continued talking about their vacation plans.
