Mike is/was a bastard, of that there is no question (great ass though.) What would have happened  to him without the Monkees is debatable. Remember a song or 2 of his was recorded by other bands and did pretty well before he was famous.  Also his early post-Monkee solo was work was highly regarded by some of the critics. He might have done ok as a songwriter, not phenominal, but ok.  But with him being the way he was, that probably wouldn't have been enough. He really should have lightened up.

Now that's true too.  The man is such an enigma it's impossible to second guess what would've happened to him.  But come to think of it, he was critically successful on his own after the Monkees, so you could say the Monkees ruined his chance of ever being a serious songwriter, then again, that's his own gripe.

hey all, i have just read the last few posts about Mike involvement/denial of the Monkees and his lack of contribution to the tours since.
Firstly i love Mike, he is cool, fuckin sexy in a certain light and Dona has introduced me to the wonder that is his ass - though i still don't think it beats Micky's but we won't go there.
Anyway whilst he could be an arrogant bastard for some of things he had said in past about the whole monkees deal, he hasn't messed anyone around, he said that he wasn't going to do the tours and he didn't - fair enough.  However i must disgree about the other three, i think that Micky does enjoy playing live, he seems to get a real kick out of it, but i don't think they do it just for the money (well maybe Peter) i mean they get $60,000 in royalities from the records/tv sells etc.  surely they can live on that and on a personal note i don't care what their appearance is like, they all still look good to me especially Mick who let's face it would look sexy in a binbag (no comments Dona!!) i am sure that Fuz would agree with me.

OK, true about suing PBS, but it was a legitimate gripe.  Unfortunately for Mike it happened to be PBS, I mean no matter how badly they fucked him over he still comes off looking like the asshole.  Anyway, you're going to love Head on DVD, 'cause you can stop it and check out all the crotch and ass shots in perfect view that you would otherwise miss.  Also, there are some great trailers included which you have to watch in slow motion to really appreciate.  And you don't have to be high to enjoy it, though a glass of wine wouldn't hurt.

Thanks Paula. I reminded you about the PBS law suit, and you reminded me of how it came out of, our pockets. I think Mike owes me a couple of mill. LOL. 

I have to agree with you Erin, about Micky, that man looks good in anything. But I will have to disagree with you about Mikes' touring. Back in 1997 Mike was suppose to tour with Micky, Davy and Peter in England, and then was to come back to the states and tour with them here. Without any notice to the guys he just didn't show up. He backed out of those concert dates. This is why Micky, Peter and Davy haven't spoken to Mike, or him to them. Peter and Davy are very bitter about this, they have both admitted it at one time or another. Micky, being the kind of guy he is,just won't comment on it. As far as the performing and the enjoyment of it all. I think Peter does it more so for the money. That is when he's touring with the Monkees. When it's just him and his group; I think he actually enjoys it. With Davy, it makes the little troll feel useful. Plus it puts some bucks in his bank accounts. Micky I think enjoys it in the beginning, but gets tired of it as it goes along. As for their royalities...They do receive royalities from their albums, but they don't get shit from the TV show. I don't know if their royality checks are quite that much, but I'm sure it's a nice amount.  Fuzzy


Ok, lets settle this.  The law suit with PBS was the corporate division (the part that sells the video tapes), not Sesame Street that gets the tax dollars and donations.  It still makes him look bad though.  I got this info from a very good source.

It's ok, but I think there would have been no confusion had you said "garbage bag".  As for royalties, the guys definitely do not get anything from the show.  Back then no one did, except for a couple of years.

Hey all. I have everyone on Monkee watch over here, seeing as their first concert is on thursday, and one of my friends recorded an interview with Micky and Davy...Man, does Davy look old! Micky looked about half his age! Davy had all grey hair and glasses, real grandad, whereas Micky's still strutting around in leather jacket. Honestly, those two could talk for Britain. Micky, of course, is still suffering from broken record syndrome and rabbited on about Galaxy Quest, yeah Mick, but hardly any Brits have seen it!!!
They just kept talking over each other. Then there was people ringing up to ask questions and they just didn't seem to answer them, i dunno, Micky tried but Davy seemed to be on another planet at the time.
Then a young girl rang in and said her fave song was Circle Sky and Davy seemed to brush that aside with an 'oh well', while Micky goes on about what a great song that was and how that was a Mike Nesmith song...he seemed to be yelling that. I was touched, he loves Mike so much.
Davy was a bit put out, he hoped she would have said Daydream Believer or something!

OMG get the troll of him, the poor love with suffocate under all that testosterone (is that how you spell it), Davy does have a slight smirk on his face wonder what he's planning, i am guessing the crotch is Pete, though i am not entirely sure.  I hardly think that Mike would have stood by and let Davy do that to Micky though.

I saw both interviews yesterday and yes i agree with you, Davy did look old, Micky looked sexy in that jacket though mmmmmm.  I liked that Micky put Davy in his place about Circle Sky - he said "we're doin' that one on this tour" and Davy said "Are we?", Micky gave him this look and Davy replied "Well you're the boss" nuff said. Micky did do all the same jokes (again!) although Leonard Nimoy seems to be have been forgotten in favour of the Galaxy Quest joke.

It is an interesting picture, isn't it?  You can do a lot of speculation with this one - my mind hasn't stopped since I saw it.  So you think that's Pete's crotch?  You're probably right, since once again, there's nothing there to see...just flat...like a girl.  I must say I'm glad I couldn't watch this interview you guys had over there.  I get so embarrassed for them when they act like that, especially when Micky starts with the analogies - god, it makes me cringe!  As for red-heads, I never had a thing for them, I just thought Ben was cute, but I hate men with red hair, it's much nicer on women.

My hubby is red-headed, but it's a nice dark red that lingers on brown.  Makes his brown eyes very expressive. <G>  My girls both have red hair, a nice shade that's brilliant in the sun.  Funny thing is, I always liked the dark hair/blue eyes type when I was younger.  Never had a crush on a redhead! (until hubby)

So, Micky is defending Mike, huh?  Cool.  I think he's had enough of Davy's bullshit.  I bet they got in a row after the show.  *thinks of picture again* Hmmm.....

Sorry I missed the chat...maybe next week.  I tried. ANYWAY, I love the pic of Davy on Mick!  And my two cents says it's Peter in the background also...base on the tan line before I read the other post.  Mike NEVER had such a tan line!

I think I agree with Dona, Mike and Davy are doing it now.  I got tickets to see them in April...they tell me in the 2nd row.  I'll let you know.  I DID see Peter last Saturday night and his brother Nick.  Nick (who looks completely like an accountant) got up and played the keyboard for a song.  What kept going through my head about Peter is that he is 60 years old!  His face looks craggy...but his body (in clothes anyway) and his movements and nimble fingers DO NOT seem 60!  I kept laughing at all of these people (myself included) watching a 60 year old rocker! 

Before I forget...I must share an excerpt from Glamour magazine..this was in an article on Mary Kay.  "Speaking of inventions, all hail Bette Nesmith Graham, the Dallas secretary who in 1951 invented correctin fluid in her blender.  Graham was a divorced mother (of future Monkees member Mike Nesmith!) whose tempera based concoction, Mistake Out (later Liquid Paper) landed her a $47 million buyout from Gillette.  That's a nice price for something she literally whipped up in the kitchen sink."

Dona, the Glamour magazine article (mentioning Mrs. Nesmith) was from March 2002! (as in current).  They rememner both Mrs. Nesmith and The Monkees!  Speaking of Monkees, I guess Peter did not reconcile witm Micky and Davy, it was just false advertising on the part of Clear Channel Entertainment and Ticketmaster.  They better straighten up their act!
